Parent Questions
Imagination Library Colorado is a book gifting program that mails free, high-quality books to children from birth to age five, no matter their family’s income. The program is available for all Colorado children 0–5, so long as there is a local partner in your area supporting the cost of books.

Check your local availability here. If you'd like to be notified when an affiliate opens in the area please sign up with your email via ImaginationLibrary.com
When you move, your books do not automatically move with you. Update your address using one of the options below. Books will arrive between 6-8 weeks after your information is submitted. This is only for use by current Colorado residents. If you are moving and currently live outside the state of Colorado, please visit imaginationlibrary.com to update your address. Update your Imagination Library parent profile. If you set-up a parent account into the Imagination Library system when your child was enrolled, you can update your address by logging into your account. To log into your account, click here. OR, email our staff at books@imaginationlibrarycolorado.org and we'll update your account for you. In your email, make sure to include your child's name, DOB, old address, and updated address.
Due to the large volume of books we send each month, our book labels are printed a month in advance. Depending on when you registered your child, it may take up to 8-12 weeks for your first book to arrive. Similarly, if you’ve recently updated the address on your account, it will take 6-8 weeks to start receiving books at your new address. Have you suddenly stopped receiving books without updating your profile? Please email us at books@imaginationlibrarycolorado.org
Once the registration is approved, it takes 8-12 weeks for your child to receive their first book. After that, they should receive a new book each month until their fifth birthday.
Here’s the truth: While Dolly Parton launched this incredible program, local communities raise the funds to make it happen. That means every book your child receives is made possible by caring people living locally —just like you. Learn more here.
Congratulations! You can sign your baby up as soon as they are born!
American Printing House (APH) selects six titles from the current Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library collection that are most appropriate for children with visual impairment. Children will receive a braille/ print book in the mail at no cost to their family every other month. For more information, please visit: aph.org/braille-tales. The application on this page is required to be completed prior to receiving books.
Audio Imagination Library books are also available to children. These books may only be played on a digital playback device loaned from the National Library Service (NLS) or another device approved by the NLS. For more information, please visit: aph.org/imagination-library-collaboration/.
We mail out books by age group. Every child born in the same year
receives the same books, appropriate for their age. Twins will receive the
exact book each month. However, because the books are addressed to
each child, they will both have built their own library of quality books
when they graduate from the programs.
Families can choose between two collections of Imagination Library books: the primarily English book collection with occasional bilingual English/Spanish books, or a 100% bilingual English/Spanish book collection. Recommendation: select an English book language for one twin, and select bilingual English/Spanish book language for the second twin.

Here's how to opt-in to receive the new bilingual book collection:

notified via that email when the registration is approved or entered into
our system. If you do not have an email address, you will need to contact
your Local Program Partner to find out more information.
The Imagination Library in Colorado is made possible through local communities. While
many overhead costs and administration needs are covered by Dolly and the Foundation, the local programs secure the funding for the cost of books and postage for all children in their county/region.
